Questions relating to fixed telephony

This section covers the frequently asked questions by the users of the tariff simulator up to now. If you do not find the answer to one of your questions, do not hesitate to contact us by sending an e-mail at the following address: infotarsim@ibpt.be

If this question is often asked, we will integrate it into this “FAQ”.

These questions concern the comparisons made by the simulator between the tariff plans on the calls made from a fixed telephone

Why do I have to tell how I wish to do the installation?

Why do I have to enter my postal code?

Why do I have to enter the total number of minutes for each type of call?

Why do I have to indicate when I mostly use my phone?

Why is a given country not listed among the possible destinations of international calls?

Why am I not able to see my tariff plan of fixed telephony?

Why do I have to tell how I wish to do the installation?

In the cases of fixed telecommunications service (fixed telephony, fixed Internet or bundle integrating at least one fixed component), this information can be important for two reasons. On the one hand, because the monthly average cost can vary according to the type of installation done.  On the other hand, because some plans are only offered in one of the 2 versions: either with an installation of the "do-it-yourself" type or with an installation necessarily done by a technician.

Why do I have to enter my postal code?

For all requests including a fixed component, you need to enter the postal code for the future connection to allow the system to determine the service operators in this municipality.

However, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the tariff simulator is not able to provide in real time the exact coverage detail of every operator. Therefore, we advice you to check the availability of the service in question for your address before entering into a contract with an operator.

Why do I have to enter the total number of minutes for each type of call?

The charged tariffs can vary according to the type of call. In order to guarantee that the call costs are correctly reflected, the simulator must split your usage minutes between the different types of calls.

Why do I have to indicate when I mostly use my phone?

The tariff charged by operators can depend on when you make the call. If for example, you make most of your calls during the weekend, the simulator must take it into account.

Why is a given country not listed among the possible destinations of international calls?

Unfortunately it is not possible to consider all international destinations. This tool is at first focused on national services.

Why am I not able to see my tariff plan of fixed telephony?

The tariff simulator displays the tariff plans of the residential customers provided that they are currently available for sale and that they have been integrated into the tool by operators.

However, it is possible that your tariff plan is no longer showed by our tool. Several reasons can explain it:

 - Either your plan is no longer proposed for sale to new customers. In this case, please contact your operator in  order to obtain information about this tariff plan;

 - Or the operator has not introduced this tariff plan. If so, please let us know so that we can question the  oerator to assess the reasons why he did not submit any tariff plan to the system.

It should also be noted that the scope of this module does not currently include the offers of VoiP ("Voice over Internet Protocol") type.
